To maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of the 2.0L EcoBlue engine, The Van Doctor advises the following service intervals based on typical usage patterns:
Every 12 months or 10,000 miles – Recommended for standard driving conditions, such as regular commuting to a fixed workplace and occasional personal use.
Every 6 months or 6,000 miles – Advised for more intensive usage, including frequent stop-start driving associated with delivery work, site visits, or repeated short journeys.
In addition, we recommend alternating annually between a minor and major service to ensure comprehensive maintenance over time.
Following these service guidelines will help preserve engine health, minimise wear, and reduce the risk of unexpected component failure.
What You Need to Know About the Wet Timing Belt in Your Ford Transit
If you drive a Ford Transit, you may have heard about the “wet belt” system—it’s a key part of your engine. Unfortunately, this component has a track record of failing much earlier than Ford’s official guidance suggests. That’s why we strongly recommend replacing it sooner to avoid unexpected and costly problems.
If you own a 2.0L Ford Transit Custom, Transit Van, Transit Minibus, or Transit Tipper, your vehicle comes with a wet timing belt. Ford recommends replacing it every 100,000 miles or 5 years, but based on our experience, that’s often too late. We’ve seen some belts fail as early as 23,000 miles. For peace of mind, we advise changing the belt every 60,000 miles or 5 years—whichever comes first.
